Grand Cayman Island Real Estate: Not Just for the Wealthy!
Grand Cayman island real estate is still relatively affordable,
compared to most of the Caribbean. It's not, of course, cheap.
However, there's property available in the price range of
normal folks, like me, who are considering a home for when we
retire.
Apartments in condos, for example, start around US$225k. Cayman
Net News (www.CaymanNetNews.com) is a good place to start
your search. It's also a good place to look for Cayman Island
home rentals.
Another place to keep abreast of developments, in both senses
of the word 'developments', is the Lund Report, a quarterly report on all things affecting real estate on the Cayman Islands. You can find this at www.caymanlundteam.com
Many of the big North American real estate companies are
represented on the island, such as
ReMax at:
www.caymanlundteam.com or
www.propertycayman.com or
www.caymanrealtor.com or
www.dreamfinders.com or
www.beachcastles.com
Away from Re/Max:
Coldwell Banker at www.caymanislandsrealty.com
ERA Real Estate at www.eracayman.com
Sotheby's International Realty is also active on
Grand Cayman, Contact them at:

There are also local companies that manage cayman island real estate sales
and property development, such as:
Butler Properties at www.butlerproperties.com
Cayman Luxury Property Group at www.CaymanLuxuryProperty.com
Capital Realty Ltd at www.capitalrealty.com.ky
Crighton Properties at www.crightonproperties.com
Toni Paolini Real Estate at (345) 945-3333

meaning Caribbean in this case. Contact them at (345)

Another way to buy property on Grand cayman is a timeshare and you can investigate that option further on our
timeshares page.
Grand Cayman
is a British territory and, as such, follows
rules that you may feel you're familiar with, the companies
you may deal with are the ones you see back home, and the
language is the same. All these things may lead you to assume
you can cut some costs but, like purchasing property anywhere,
you should get legal and other advice before buying any Grand
Cayman real estate.
Cayman island real estate is fairly defined by district. The West End is about condos, which is not to say there aren't condos elsewhere on the island or detached homes in the West End. It's just the most developed part of the island and condos rule here.
Around George Town, South Sound, North Sound and West Bay it's mainly houses ranging from classic bungalows to modern luxury dwellings with their own waterfronts and moorings.
Rum Point and Cayman Kai is mainly condos again, as befits a beach vacation spot, and it's a very self-contained community.
The East End has properties, like this one, standing in their own very private grounds.

NOTE: I'm NOT suggesting this property is for sale :)
Only showing the kind of property you can find in the East End. In case you hadn't guessed, I like the East End best. It's just that bit more island-like. And it has great beaches for wandering on, see our
East End beaches webpage.
