Cayman Islands Jobs:
What Do You Do?

Cayman Islands jobs are mainly in banking financial services, insurance, hospitality, and construction.

However, there are other jobs, such as those around boats and watersports — if the three main sectors aren’t the fields you work in.

I’m not experienced enough to help you with your search but there are a number of websites devoted to Cayman jobs and I’ll put some of them on this page.

Grand Cayman jobs include banking and financial services

So, you enjoyed your trip to Grand Cayman, and maybe you’re thinking you could retire here, but what if you could work here before retirement?

Working in paradise sounds a bit backwards but other people do so why not you? Certainly, there are many expatriates from all around the world here already, doing lots of different things. Can you find a place?

Banking is still big business here, even in the aftermath of all the financial systems upheaval these past few years.

First of all, a word of warning. It isn’t easy to move to Grand Cayman. It’s a very small island and, despite its prosperity, there’s not a lot of slack so they are rightly careful.

Secondly, there’s quite a narrow range of Cayman Island jobs available.

Grand Cayman jobs include banking and financial services

I mentioned some of the work fields already, some others include:

  • Accountancy and IT (more of that banking industry role)
  • resorts’ services (diving instructors, electricians, and staff for the hotels)
  • secretarial (finally Secretaries get a day in the sun!)
  • and for construction — project managers and technical supervisors in most disciplines.

Grand Cayman jobs, include eco-tourism guides

Other areas with possibilities are, of course:

  • airlines and shipping (as you’d expect from a place that gets so much of its business from visitors)
  • personal care (visitors need pampering in spas, gyms, etc)
  • telecoms (everyone wants to call home or their bank!)
  • legal (how else can you buy that holiday home or move money to pay for those extra few rum punches you enjoyed)
  •  the environment and related eco-tourism roles (guides, and instructors as in this photo).

Cayman Islands Jobs — Websites

So having warned you of the pitfalls, here’s where you can start your search: MyCaymanIslandsJobs has a good selection of jobs as well as information about how to apply, get permission and permits etc, and other useful information you need to know.

And for Cayman government jobs, visit Cayman Islands Government jobs. Again, the Cayman Islands’ government gives a lot of useful information on how to make your move to the islands.
