Churches in Grand Cayman: All the Christian World is Here (All-most)

Churches in Grand Cayman range from the huge Baptist mega- building in George Town to tiny, almost one family, chapels in the East End.

And church-going seems to have and old-fashioned place in Cayman society. Most Caribbean islands have lots of churches but Grand Cayman still shows the religious beliefs in its every day life, which is why you don't come here for topless (or even nude) beaches or gambling. The population was very uncomfortable not so long ago when a gay cruise ship pulled in for a visit.

The other side to this is the island is safe, peaceful, and relatively crime-free. You can walk round George Town any time without being harassed or feeling threatened. More than that, people treat you with cheerful courtesy, a pleasant respite from so much of the rest of the world.

Elmslie Church, George Town, Grand Cayman

Pretty well every Christian denomination is represented among the churches in Grand Cayman, everything from Anglicans to Weslyans. Protestant churches far outweigh Catholic ones but the Church of Rome has at least three locations on the island.

I'm providing a list mainly for visitors who wish to attend a service during their stay. Consequently, the list isn't exhaustive. I'm just mentioning the larger and more likely denominations. For a full listing, visit eCayman.

The Baptists have the biggest church on the island so I'll start with them. It's located on the eastern outskirts of George Town, with another large church in West Bay. All three Baptist churches are found at the West End and you can contact them here: (345) 949-o629 or 0692 or 6711

One of the most numerous churches in Grand Cayman, by denomination anyway, are the Seventh Day Adventist and you'll find them all over the island. There are too many to give all the phone numbers so I'll leave you with the Goerge Town church # (345) 949-9713 and I'm sure they can direct you to the church nearest your resort.

The other most numerous denomination is the United Church. They too are well represented throughout the island so, once again, here's the George Town church number: (345) 949-7923.

The Anglican/ Church of England, (345) 949-2757, Episcopalian, (345) 949-5583, St. George's Church of England, (345) 949-5583, denomination is also centered around the capital, George Town.

The Church of God (345) 949-9497/ Church of Christ, (345) 949-5785, denomination is also well represented at various points around Grand Cayman island so again I've given the George Town number.

There's a Presbyterian Church in Boatswains' Bay, (345) 949-3696 and a Wesleyan Church, (345) 949-3394, in the West End too.

For this page, I'll finish with the Catholic Church, both in the West End. They can be contacted at: (345) 949-6797 and 949-7390.

If I haven't mentioned your particular church in Grand Cayman, don't assume it isn't there. As I said, I was just picking out the bigger ones. There are lots of other Grand Cayman churches.
