Grand Cayman Car Rental Companies

Before I get to the good stuff about Grand Cayman car rental companies, here are some things to ponder:
(1) Cayman rental agencies don’t usually rent to people under 21 and sometimes don’t insure people under 25.
(2) driving in the Cayman Islands is on the left and seat belts are mandatory.
(3) the Cayman Islands have roundabouts (traffic circles)!

Driving in Grand Cayman, even if you’re not used to driving on the left, is pretty relaxed. By which I mean the people take it easy and take tourists’ mistakes in their stride — I can confirm that personally!!

And, away from George Town, the roads are practically empty anyhow, except for a brief rush hour at the beginning and end of the working day, around 8 am and 5 pm.

[Why is it that so many people who like taking photos, hate having their own photo taken? This is a very uncomfortable-looking me and our Toyota.]

A is for… Andy’s Rent-A-Car located at the airport on a stand-alone site and has the added advantage of being the first one you see (straight ahead) when you exit the terminal, not something you should discount after a tiring and/or early flight. They will also pick up and drop you off from anywhere on Seven Mile Beach. Call: 345-949-8111

and… Avis (Cico Avis), who have a number of locations including the airport, in a strip plaza, called the Airport Center, that is devoted to car rental offices; all the major companies are there. The Airport Centre is a short walk (less than 100 yards or meters) immediately left as you exit the terminal. B is for Budget, who have three locations: Sunshine Suites, George Town and Airport Center. They also a free shuttle service. Their website is www.budgetcayman.com and phone: 345-949-5605

C is for Cayman Auto Rentals and they can be found on North Church St in George Town (not far from where the cruise ships dock) and contacted at: website: www.caymanautorentals.net or phone: 345-949-1013 Cayman Auto Rentals also do jeeps and scooters.

Coconut Rentals, see photo above, is located at the airport, George Town (Crewe Rd) and (as you’d expect) Coconut Place on Seven Mile Beach. They can be contacted at 345-949-4037

Dollar Rent-A-Car is located at the Airport Center. Dollar doesn’t have a website but you can contact them at: 1-345-949-4790 or Fax: 1-345-949-8484
