Grand Cayman Fishing is Fantastic!

Grand Cayman fishing charters are an important part of the island experience. I'm providing a list here so you're ready to fish before you even leave home. I'm starting with fly-fishing because, for me anyhow, it's the most curious fishing on Grand Cayman. Let me explain.

Fly-fishing to me means middle-aged men in warm clothes and hip-waders fishing the lakes and rivers of the temperate zone, Britain, Canada, or the USA. Somehow, I never expected to see folks in shorts standing out from a warm tropic beach casting flies. I've led a sheltered life, I guess, because...

R&M Fly Shop and Charters, led by Capt. Ronald Ebanks, has been fly-fishing Cayman over the past 10 years. He learned his craft in Scotland, land of tweed and salmon, so he knows what he's doing. He can set you up to wade the flats or fish from his Stratos Flats Boat. If that doesn't hook you, he also does fishing trips for bigger catch, like tarpon, snapper, bone, and barracuda. Capt. Ronald has a website: www.flyfishgrandcayman.com, or call 345-916-5753 for more information.

Many charter companies do the full range of watersports, diving, snorkeling, and Stingray City/Sandbar trips, as well as fishing so look to my dive and snorkel pages for potential charters too. Here are some that put Grand Cayman fishing higher on the menu...

White Rose Charters provides full-day tours with lunch on the beach. Capt. Alfonso particularly fishes for bone and tarpon whether drift or reef fishing. Call 345-949-1012 for details.

Capt Clinton's Sea Stars -- 25, 27, and 31 foot cabin cruisers -- do half or full day reef or deep sea fishing for bone and tarpon. Phone 345-949-1016 for more information.

Frank's Watersports, www.cayman.org/franks, has been fishing Cayman waters for over 30 years. They also do full or half day charters deep sea fishing as well as conch diving (in season) and snorkeling. Phone 345-945-5491 to arrange your trip.

Bayside Watersports have three boats, Happy Hooker, Reel Hooker, and Lil Hooker, doing full-day fishing or half-day snorkeling trips. Call 345-949-3200 for details.

Capt. Chuckle at Black Princess Charters combines fishing and snorkeling for full day charters or choose one option for the half day trip. Phone 345-949-0400 to get started.

Dallas Watersports has a long history in the business, since 1960 to be exact. He too takes snorkel as well as fishing charters, call 345-916-2707 to arrange your full or half day trip.

If you fancy shark fishing, Oh Boy Charters is the one to call at 345-949-6341. They also do night trips and trips to the Sister Islands and Outer Banks. These deep-sea trips offer bigger fish such as marlin, wahoo, dolphin, and tuna.

Another company that does a range of options is Capt. Asley's Watersports. They do both deep-sea and light-tackle fishing, half or full day. You can contact them at: 345-949-3045

As I said earlier, most charter companies offer Grand Cayman fishing trips in addition to the other watersports so it's a good idea to ask at any watersports company you contact for whatever sport you've chosen. As well, check with your resort. Morritts, for example, has an arrangement with Capt. Herman, an East End fishing charter company.

After you've done with Grand Cayman fishing, you may want to try Louisiana. The Louisiana Coast is an extremely special place, in that are many different things to do, and places to see from fishing, professional sports, hunting, plantation, alligators, and so much more. Tourists and Travelers entrance to a new world!
