Grand Cayman Hotels and Inns -- and Bed & Breakfasts
I've separated Grand Cayman hotels and inns from
resorts
to make it easier for you to know what you're getting.
Just so you know, the cut-off line on these pages is a
simple one. If the place has less than 50 rooms, it's
on this page. If it has more, it's on the resorts page.
Probably some smaller resorts will end up here and some
large Grand Cayman hotels will land with the mega-resorts but a line has to be drawn somewhere and it's our site so we get to
draw that line.
The big resorts offer the widest range of services and
things to do. That's the advantage size gives them. Hotels
offer a more engaging relationship between guests and
staff, sometimes the owner too. It depends on your tastes
as to which of these packages you prefer. Like my resort
page, I'm recording the hotels in alphabetical order:
Beach Club Colony Hotel and Dive Resort has 41 rooms and is located on West Bay Road in the highly desirable, if you favor the fast life, Seven Mile Beach area.
Britannia Villas has 44 rooms and is also on West Bay Road and Seven Mile Beach and, driving by, it looks a fabulous place to stay. Trip reports on TripAdvisor seem to confirm that.
Cayman Kai Resort is on North Side near
Rum Point.
With 27 rooms and a pleasantly remote location it's a quieter, more 'wanderer' type of place to stay.
Cobalt Coast Resort & Suites is on Sea Fan Road close to Barkers National Park and Boatswain's Bay. It has 18 rooms and is highly recommended on TripAdvisor.
Discovery Point Club is ranked # 1 on Seven Mile Beach,
according to TripAdvisor. This highly recommended hotel,
is located on West Bay Road and is one of the bigger ones
on this page with 47 rooms. It's also highly recommended
for families -- at #2 on Grand Cayman -- with 2 tennis courts, swimming pool, whirlpool spa overlooking the sea, and snorkeling off the beach. Look for their website: www.discoverypointclub.com
Grand Caymanian Resort in the Safehaven area, handy for the
golf course,
of the West End has 54 rooms, which is above our ‘line’ but close enough so I'm including it here (shouldn't be too pedantic about these things).
Island House Resort, located in West Bay so it's also handy for seven Mile Beach and the other activities of the West End has 10 rooms.
Seven Mile Beach Resort & Club has 38 rooms and is on West Bay Road and is another hotel nicely placed for the West End lifestyle.
The Turtle Nest Inn on Bodden Town Road ranks #1 on Grand
Cayman, according to TripAdvisor, and it certainly looks the
part. We passed it regularly on our trips back and forth
and admired its setting, on a secluded beach set back off
the road, and flowering gardens every time. Of all the Grand Cayman hotels, and they all look fine, the Turtle Nest Inn was the one I liked the look of best. However, it's not a big place, only 8 rooms, so it's probably one of the hardest to get into.
There's quite a range of prices on Grand Cayman island hotel rooms too -- from about $70 to $502 -- so shop around for price as well as location. Factor in
car rental
if you want to stay somewhere quiet but have access to the busy end of the island -- or vice versa.
That's it for Grand Cayman hotels for this time. As always,
we'll be adding to the page over time.
There are also Grand Cayman bed and breakfasts, for those
who like a more family-style experience or like to spend their
hard-earned cash on something other than a bed. Here are
three to consider:
Annie's Place on Seven Mile Beach is highly recommended
on TripAdvisor by those who have stayed there.
Enterprise Bed and Breakfast is in the Red Bay Estates area, near the Owen Roberts International
airport
and about 10 minutes drive from George Town.
Shangri-La Bed & Breakfast, in West Bay, also has a good
review.
