Grand Cayman weather varies from pleasantly warm in winter to pleasantly hot in summer, if you’re a visitor from a cooler climate; for local folks ‘winter’ feels cooler of course. Average temperatures for Grand Cayman range from 25 °C in winter to 28 °C in summer with night time lows of 23 °C to 27 °C. I put ‘winter’ in quotation marks because there isn’t really a winter, just a cooler few months to make the rest of the year feel nice.

Of course, the record high and low temperatures are more extreme, 31 to 36 °C for winter and summer highs and 13 to 22 °C for winter and summer lows. As you see, you won’t be cold when ever you visit. Rainfall is also on the side of the visitor in December, January and February with only 4 or 5 days with rain per month while summer and autumn get 7 to 9 days with rain.

Grand Cayman Weather — Winter (Jan-Feb-Mar)

Winter is a good time to visit Grand Cayman because the temperatures range from 77 °F in January to 79 °F in March and average rainfall is the lowest, at about 2 inches per month, of all the seasons. Only April has ‘better’ numbers. With the weather at its mildest, sightseeing is a pleasure, as is enjoying the outdoor patios on most of the restaurants. Just remember to pack a sweater in case your visit coincides with one of those record low nights.

Spring (Apr-May-Jun)

Spring is a good time for sunshine and temperature, 80 to 84 °F, and even rainfall in April, though the rain starts to get heavier in May. The average for April is a nice 2 inches of rain, May and June though it jumps up to 6 inches. Of course, if you’re diving or snorkelling you won’t mind the rain.

This is the season for the annual Batabano festival and the start of the Cayman yearly events.

Summer (Jul-Aug-Sep)

Summer is the best time for Grand Cayman weather, with temperatures steady around 84 °F; however, the rain is increasing from about 6 inches in July, to 8 inches in September. Not a huge amount and most of it in thundery showers late in the day so it’s easily avoided.

Autumn (Oct-Nov-Dec)

Temperatures range from 82 °F in October down to 79 °F in December. Rainfall is at its heaviest in October, about 8.5 inches but falls quickly to 6 inches in November and 3 inches in December.

Christmas in Cayman is a really pleasant time, ideal for relaxing and letting the stresses of the year slip away. November is Pirate Week and a great time to visit, with lots of outdoor events.

As with all trips to sunny climes, remember to take sunscreen. Grand Cayman is a sunny spot — don’t be caught out. The number of people who are sunburned on their first day and spend the rest of the trip indoors is legendary.

Grand Cayman is just sub-tropical so, for those of you who like it really hot, here’s a link to tropical rainforests: Tropical Rainforest Animals - Spreading the knowledge about the current state of tropical rainforests and rainforest animals, with a special focus on their conservation.
