Grand Cayman Web Cams:
A Taste of Paradise

Grand Cayman web cams are a new way to enjoy your favorite places. They can let you peek in on home, if you live away, or remind yourself of that great trip you enjoyed so much, or get you prepared for the next one.

Grand Cayman has a number of them you can access, ones near the harbor in George Town are my favorites, see the Port Authority link below. I’m an engineer by training and inclination so ships always interest me, along with planes, cars, and all the other mechanical marvels of the modern world.

Here’s a link to the George Town Port Authority. Over the past few years, it has become more difficult to access webcams as concerns over privacy and security have grown. The world wide web has created whole new ways of looking at things that we haven’t entirely gotten the hang of yet. Tis is particularly true for places like airports and, this one, the George Town seaport, which requires you to login.

Having to login may not be as easy as before but at least they’re still there. Other webcams that were available on Grand Cayman, like the Turtle farm, have sadly disappeared recently.

Here are another two webcams still in operation, this time provided by the newspapercayCompass. These web cams are located in downtown George Town and the harbor area. what’s particularly good about them is you get to control them for a time.

These webcams, and others like them around the world, suggest a great storyline for a novel or movie (preferably both) where the hero sees something happen on a camera located far away and races off to save the day — or something. The ‘or something’ tells you why I haven’t become a novelist… yet.
